About National Girls and Women in Sports Day
NGWSD, recognized annually since 1987, highlights the achievements of women athletes, coaches, and leaders while promoting equity and opportunity in sports. This year marks the 39th Annual NGWSD under the theme "Lead Her Forward", celebrating the role sports play in empowering girls and women to unlock their full potential.
Sports participation builds confidence, strength, and character—qualities that help girls and women become strong leaders both on and off the field. Inter Atlanta FC is committed to fostering these values in our community by creating opportunities for players to play, grow, and lead.
Why It Matters
NGWSD began as a tribute to Olympic volleyball player Flo Hyman, honoring her achievements and advocacy for gender equality in sports. Today, it serves as a national day of action and awareness, uniting communities to celebrate the progress made and the work still ahead.
At Inter Atlanta FC, we recognize the importance of supporting girls and women in sports and are excited to offer a space where players of all ages can connect, learn, and celebrate their love of the game.
